How closely do learning rate estimates measure the thing they are supposed to measure – technological progress – and to what extent are they affected by technology-external factors? We investigated how exchange rates affect learning measurements and developed a method to solve the problem.
As we push for a complete overhaul of the electricity system to end its dependence on carbon-based fuels, we have an opportunity to push for the new system constructed in its place to reduce, rather than worsen, current energy injustices including energy poverty.
This paper is in part the product of my asking the right question at just the right time in my academic journey. The question so timely for both research and utilities was that of how to roll out demand-side response measures on a grand scale.
